Administration Joomla! 5.x • Email config issue

Hi there,

I'm having issues tracking down an issue related to email on my site (Joomla 5.1.1).

I originally set the site up with a gmail address but then had to change to an email address in the same domain as my main site to get SMTP working.

Summary of issues:

From System / Global Config / Server I can successfully receive email to my domain email address using the Send Test Email feature.

Using the 'Forgot your username' feature in the UI, depending on the email address I get no error or a 'the following recipients failed - Relay not allowed' error. The email is never received at the account.

Using a custom component (FlexiContact) as a Contact page I get 'Failed to send message: SMTP Error: The following recipients failed: xxx@gmail.com: Relay is not allowed ' where the gmail account is the original email address that I used to setup Joomla.

Can anyone suggest where the reference might be? I have spent hours combing the system looking for any reference to the gmail account without success.
